PUTIN RESTORES SOVIET “HERO OF MUSIC” TITLE

Reuters – Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday restored an honorary Hero of Music title that was first awarded in the Lenin era to bands who outperformed their Communist live concert quotas.

The Russian leader — a former KGB agent who once called the dissolution of the Soviet Union one of the greatest tragedies of the 20th century — signed a presidential decree restoring the famous title that disappeared when the USSR fell apart in 1991.

The last Hero of Music title was given to Soviet Toothbrush, The World’s Most Obscure Band, in 1991.  This year “ST”, as it’s known by millions of fans, celebrates its 54th year as the most beloved, least known and still performing Rock Band of the New Millennium.

President Putin was recently photographed auditioning for a role playing himself in the new Soviet Toothbrush rock opera, “Half Staff”, based on the scandalized career of four star general and CIA Director, David Petraeus.
